ChiCeLaCu! is pleased to offer its 2025 Spanish Online Program. This program has a sequential curriculum intended for students from first to 6th grade that includes homework, one parent-teacher conference, and scheduled email updates every 3 weeks. Class information and support material will be printed at home. For returning students, classes will continue to build on learnings from the previous sessions. Registration and materials fee covers materials to be picked up at the ChiCeLaCu Fairfax office but does not include instructional materials and books to be purchased directly online. Beginner Spanish

In this introductory course, students will learn the fundamentals of the language through interactive and dynamic online activities. These include basic greetings, colors, letters, days of the week, months, numbers, and everyday vocabulary and phrases to express immediate needs. Students will learn while enjoying music, games, storytelling, arts & crafts, and more. This course is ideal for students who have, at most, one year of exposure to the language. The course will use original ChiCelaCu instructional materials to focus on basic phonics and correct pronunciation. Please note that extra materials and some textbooks must be purchased from Amazon. Intermediate Spanish

Students in this class are expected to have at least 2-3 years of formal Spanish instruction. Using ChiCeLaCu’s online materials, the focus will be on building vocabulary, phonics, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The first part of the course will focus on verb conjugation. Students will begin forming basic sentences on various topics, including the human body, emotions, the home, family, community, etc. Students will learn while enjoying many fun and interactive activities. The second part of the course will focus on pronouns, prepositions, and possessives. Students will be introduced to AR, ER, and IR (regular and irregular verbs) through various activities, and they will practice conjugating in the first person, using storytelling, videos, music, songs, and many games. Students will be assigned homework and evaluations will be conducted to monitor progress. Using ChiCelaCu instructional material, students will expand and refine their reading and writing competencies. Please note that extra materials and some textbooks must be purchased from Amazon. Advanced Spanish

Students must have at least 4-5 years of Spanish instruction to participate in this class. This course focuses on building vocabulary and confidence in the language. Students will learn through game-based learning in situational contexts, scripted dialogues, reading advanced texts, and other interactive activities. Students will apply grammatical principles to form present and past-tense sentences using regular AR, ER, and IR verbs. In addition, they will learn and apply the irregular verbs to be, to like, to have, and to go. To make this a more dynamic and enjoyable experience, cultural aspects from various countries, cartoon drawing, music, puppet theater, and arts and crafts will be integrated into the course.  Using ChiCeLaCu’s advanced phonics materials and other books, students will improve pronunciation, spelling, verbal expression, and reading. Ideal for students with at least 5-6 years of formal language instruction, the course covers grammar, vocabulary, oral expression, listening, and complex and advanced reading and writing comprehension. The course builds on previous knowledge, and new information and topics are presented in progressive complexity, expanding on vocabulary and grammar concepts. Students will use original ChiCeLaCu material, among other fun learning resources. Culture, justice, environment, family, history, and geography are among the many topics covered in class. Students will begin using more complex sentences, applying regular and irregular verbs, adjectives, nouns, adverbs, prepositions, and past, present and future tenses. Classes are designed to be very interactive to ensure an enjoyable and engaging virtual experience. Co-teachers from different countries will be invited to teach fun topics such as drawing, poetry, history, geography, and mathematics, exposing students to various accents and more complex vocabulary to improve listening skills and motivate dialogue.
